  • Read the prompt for Question 3 on the 2009 AP exam. Feel free to make notes on it, such as a quick statement of Ehrenreich's assertion! (You have to know what you are arguing for or against!)
  • On a sheet of paper, draw yourself a graphic organizer for the components of Toulmin's model for arguments. Briefly outline the argument you would make. In very brief terms, brainstorm your claim, grounds, warrant, and backing as well as any qualifiers, reservations, or rebuttals.
  • Read a sample response for this prompt. (Sample 3A- pg.3-4)

Discuss

Re-read the prompt and the sample responses for Question 3 of the 2006 AP exam. Discuss scoring of each essay. What put each student into that top, middle, or bottom tier?

Evaluate

Noting that your last argument has either been placed in the top, middle, or bottom tier, decide on a score you would have likely earned. On an exit slip, write your score and a brief explanation of why you feel this is the score you would have earned.

Timed Write
